Summary
In the article, "Protein Supplements Are Often Misused By Athletes, Study Finds", it talks about how many athletes are taking protein supplements or other boosters to help them. Professor Frechette from the University of Montreal, did a study on athletes who use these supplements. He gave 42 athletes a questionair where they had tosay whether or notthey took these supplements and they alsohad to keep a log of their eating habits. nine out of ten athletes admitted to taking supplements on a daily basis. Frechette told them how even though they are suppose to be putting all ingredients on the back of the bottle, there are certain ingredients that they don't tell you about. The athletes may be taking prohibited substances and not even know it! Also taking these may give athletes a higher level of sodium, vitamin A, iron, etc. that is not normal. This would cause many side effects!
